Industrial Blade Company

Welcome to, Industrial Blade Company’s new e-commerce store featuring, IBC’s premium hand plane blades, the award winning matched blade and chip breaker sets for older bench planes and IBC’s new premium bench chisels.

In 2016, we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary and it’s been quite a ride so far. Hand planes equipped with blades contracted to IBC have won ‘Tool of the Year’ awards and IBC’s retail brand of premium hand plane replacement blades released in 2009 quickly received critical acclaim from many woodworking experts, including an unpaid endorsement from David Charlesworth.

The IBC/Cosman matched blade/breaker is the best prepared that I have seen. The chipbreaker is outstanding and a few strokes on each surface will perfect it. Blade flatness and finish are excellent so the total preparation time is minimal. With proper tuning and sole flattening results should be comparable to premium modern planes. The benefit of this set is the reduced preparation time and the ability to fit a thick blade to a Stanley. This option has not been available before.

I have been tuning up old Stanley planes for over 30 years. We have even salvaged pre 1910 planes. Tremendous satisfaction can be had from reviving and using an old heirloom.
David Charlesworth,

IBC chisels then had to live up to that history. They had to feel great, look beautiful, cut beautifully, perform like workhorses and be an affordable option in the premium chisel market. That took 3 ½ years to achieve and the first set, bench chisels with 6 widths, were finally shown to the public on September 25, 2015 at the Timberman woodworking show in the UK. Woodworking experts Rob Cosman, David Charlesworth and Andy King have already taken them to task and they all agree they are well worth the wait. Andy King, Sept. 23, 2015 “Wow! I’m in love -They are stunning!”.

More IBC woodworking tools will be released in 2016, including skew chisel sets with the same interchangeable handles as our bench chisels, as well as, Japanese style long chisel handles that also precisely fit each IBC chisel blade as another option. The long handle is a great idea that was suggested to us by David Charlesworth after he published his initial review of the bench chisels. They are already in production along with a pair of striking knives that IBC jointly developed with Andy King.
